Log Dishes · Last updated 6 September 2026
Log Dishes is a private notebook for what you ate and what you thought of it. It is built so that the answer to “who else can see this?” is nobody.
We collect nothing. There is no account, no server of ours, and no analytics. Your log lives on your iPhone. If you have iCloud switched on it is also mirrored to your own private iCloud database, which is yours — not ours, and not readable by Apple.
We cannot see your restaurants, your dishes, your notes, your allergens, or your location, because the app never sends any of it anywhere.
The single exception is deliberate and entirely in your hands: if you choose to email support, we receive that email. That is described in full under Contacting support below.
Everything you enter — restaurants, visits, dishes, verdicts, notes, allergens and any reaction records — is stored in a database on your device.
If your device is signed in to iCloud, that database is also mirrored to the private database of your personal iCloud account, so a new iPhone signed into the same Apple Account restores your log without an export step. This is handled by Apple’s CloudKit. Apple’s handling of that data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, or iCloud is unavailable, the app keeps working and stores everything locally. The Settings screen always tells you which is happening.
Camera and Photo Library — used only when you choose to scan a bill. The photo is read on your device to pull dish names off it, then discarded. The image is never saved to the app, never copied, and never uploaded. It does not reach your log, your iCloud database, or anywhere else.
Location (while using the app) — used only to show restaurants near you when you are logging a visit, so you do not have to type the name. Your location is used for that search and is not stored and not transmitted by us. The map and place search are provided by Apple Maps; Apple’s handling is governed by their privacy policy.
You can refuse or revoke any of these in iOS Settings. The app remains usable without them — you can always type a restaurant name and enter dishes by hand.
If you choose to record allergens or an allergic reaction, that information is treated exactly like the rest of your log: stored on your device and in your own iCloud database, never transmitted to us. We do not process it, analyse it, or share it. If you do not add any allergens, the app never shows you a safety field at all.
Settings → Contact support opens a message in your own mail app, addressed to rujain@icloud.com. It is pre-filled with your app version, your iOS version, your device model, and whether iCloud sync is on — because those are what a useful reply depends on.
Three things about it:
If you do email us, we then have your email address and whatever you wrote, for as long as it takes to answer you. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else: it is never added to a mailing list, never sold, and never shared. Ask us to delete the correspondence and we will.
Export. Settings → Export a backup writes your entire log to a plain JSON file you control. It contains no identifiers and no platform-specific data.
Deletion. Deleting the app removes the local database. To remove the mirrored copy, delete the app’s data from your iCloud storage in iOS Settings (Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Account Storage). Because we never hold your log, there is nothing for you to request from us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Log Dishes is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Since no information reaches us from any user, this is true regardless of age.
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal information a company holds about you. We hold none of your log, so those rights are satisfied directly by the app: your data is already in your hands, exportable at any time, and deletable by removing the app.
If you have emailed support, the one thing we hold is that correspondence. Write to the address below to see it or have it deleted.
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it, and a materially different version will be noted in the app’s release notes.
